Do You Communicate Honestly and Effectively?

Most people, when asked a question that they perceive is an attack of some sort, tend to pivot, deflect, change the subject, and attack back by asking a question or raising an issue to point out a flaw in the other person, rather than answer the question. This is a mistake in political discourse and in personal relationships discourse as well. It is best to answer the charge, regardless of how uncomfortable it may feel, and then challenge the other person with your position on some other matter that you feel you have the high ground on. Take responsibility first. Answer their question first, as honestly as you can. And then challenge them with your position if you wish.
