Purpose, Passion, Practice, Persistence. Step Up To The Plate & Give It Your Best Shot

Many people are afraid to go after their dreams, to take action, to implement…. out of fear that they will fail, look stupid, feel shamed, and have to acknowledge that they weren’t good enough… Bottom line: You won’t know if you don’t go. Yes you may strike out and that would be painful, but you’ve got no chance of hitting a home run unless you step up to the plate. The other consideration: It is the doing, the process, that makes one a success and that opens the doors to all sorts of possibilities we never could have imagined. Seek not to deprive yourself of personal fulfillment by letting fear, insecurity and self-doubt get in the way of your self-expression. Go forth with joy and gratitude, and take your best shot.
On an entirely different note: I am on Day 4 of the ACIM Workbook For Students: “These thoughts do not mean anything. They are like the things I see in this room.” … The point being: The thoughts we think, perceived as either “good” or “bad”, are actually masking or blocking our True Thoughts. They are a meaningless smokescreen designed by our ego, born of fear, to maintain the belief in separation. Insofar as the things we see are a projection of our thoughts, since we’re not really thinking, we’re not really seeing. Only when our Mind is grounded in Unity, Oneness, and Unconditional Love, Forgiveness, and Acceptance will we actually see the Real World with all of its miraculous beauty and eternal peacefulness.
For those of you who view the above paragraph as too far out there… understood. A Course In Miracles is not for everyone. It’s not an easy read. It’s not an easy program to master, which is why I wrote my book, Forgive To Win!, which shares the core concepts of the Course but explains them in ways that are easier for most people to understand and apply. I encourage you to take a look at the book on Amazon where you can peek inside. Additionally, if you subscribe to my free newsletter you can download a free chapter from the book on Self-Loathing & Self-Sabotage.
Which brings me back to the initial paragraph I wrote about going after your dreams and taking action: When we learn how to love ourselves and forgive ourselves – the crux of A Course In Miracles and Forgive To Win!, we eliminate the unconscious self-sabotaging programming getting in the way of our happiness, our relationships, our physical well-being, our success, our prosperity and our inner peace.
When we meld tools of self-mastery with humanistic choices as to how we perceive and treat others, there are no limits, there is nothing we can’t accomplish. It is not simply faith that moves mountains. It is forgiveness, acceptance and love. Hold these thoughts in your mind as much as you can, as best you can, wherever you are and under all circumstances, regardless of how others are behaving, without conditions or exceptions — and watch your world get better.
No joke. No lie. It works if you work it: Change your Mind. Change your Life. Change your World.
Peace, joy and blessings to you all!

“Many people are afraid to go after their dreams, to take action, to implement…. out of fear that they will fail, look stupid, feel shamed, and have to acknowledge that they weren’t good enough…”
You are spot on right off the bat in this article. Too many people are filled with fear and never achieve the goals they have because they allow their fear to take control.
A lot of people have issues with getting rid of their fear and most times it is because their self confidence is shot.
I think that in order for a person to get to full benefit of the article you wrote they would have to be able to increase their self confidence.
http://selfconfidenceforum.com/ is a website that provides videos and articles to help teach people how to build their self confidence. It is the first building block people need to build in order to be truly happy and successful.
I wrote this for my blog and thought it was similar to what Walter was saying. Kinda long so I FORGIVE YOU if you don’t read it!
Don’t you feel just GREAT when you finally take action on something? I know I do.
Why is that? Maybe because action is the proof that you actually do believe what you say you believe, and doing it makes you feel good about yourself.
We’ve all heard that “the proof is in the puddin.’ “ It’s a corruption of the adage, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating,” which basically means:
The quality of something (in this case, your belief) is uncertain until it has been tested directly (by what action, or lack of action, you take).
“What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.” -Ralph Waldo
“The few who do are the envy of the many who only watch.”— Jim Rohn
It is in your practicing of a skill that you develop the ability that you need to succeed when you finally feel confident enough to decide it’s time for you to act.
Practice is “a method of learning by repetition.” It is the basis of The Slight Edge, a way of thinking, “a way of processing information that enables you to make the daily choices that will lead you to the success you desire.”
Your thought becomes an idea which you then formulate into a plan, but it’s what you DO with the plan, what action you take along with belief, that transforms it from the intangible realm of a thought into the tangible reality of what you actually want.
I am a veterinarian. I had a Burning Desire to become a veterinarian, so after 4 years of college, I spent another 4 years learning what I needed to know and practicing the skills I needed to have to get my license as a veterinarian.
Then when I graduated and finally accomplished what I had set out to do, I “went into practice.” I guess you never stop practicing if you want to be really good at what you do. What’s the expression, “You’re either going forward or going backward, but you’re never staying in the same place.” And either one is your choice.
Perfect practice makes perfect. If you want to learn the skills that will bring you success in any area, doesn’t it make sense to not just learn anyone’s skills, though? That’s where having a mentor is helpful.
Actually, thinking about it, practicing forgiveness and estimable acts of kindness are skills that you become better at the more you practice them, too. It is in the space between stimulus and your response that you make a choice to either be forgiving or not, loving or not, and the more you choose forgiveness and love, the happier you become. And if you choose incorrectly, if you make a mistake, then forgive yourself and “choose once again.”
