I Am Not A Victim Of The World I See

If something “good” happens, does that make you happy? If something “bad” happens, does that make you sad?

If someone says something “nice” to you, does that generate warmth and endearment? If someone says something “mean” to you, does that generate anger and resentment?

If something appears “safe” to you, does that cause you to feel calm and confident? If something appears “threatening” to you, does that cause you to feel anxious and insecure?

Let not your perceptions of good and bad, nice and mean, safe and threatening intrude upon your joy and peace of mind. Oftentimes these judgments are biased by our fear and our lack of sufficient information, such that they lead our emotions down paths of pain, confusion and inappropriate reactivity.

Even when our perceptions and judgments are spot on, we need not let them send our heart and mind into turmoil and aggression. We are not victims of our perceptions. We are not victims of our thoughts. We are not victims of our emotions.

Despite what “hurricanes” we find ourselves caught up in, we can choose calm over chaos. We can choose to be compassionate, forgiving and content.

Change Is Good. Do Things Differently.

We have been so indoctrinated, trained, and programmed to see the world a certain way, to think a certain way, to behave in a certain way to the point where we are on automatic pilot: We see things, think things and do things without actually thinking about them. They have become so routine we take them for granted and we are not in the Now, we are not truly present. Our reactions are knee-jerk and we don’t give our perceptions, our thoughts and our behaviors the attention they deserve. The end result of such unconsciousness is limitation. It limits our capacity to change. It limits our capacity to expand our consciousness. It limits our capacity to recognize opportunities when they appear and to create opportunities as well. What’s the solution? Start making some changes. Start doing things differently. Doesn’t have to involve big things or big routines. Make small changes and in the doing of these small changes you will be restoring your attention and concentration to the task at hand, you will be expanding your awareness of the choices you make every day, and this in turn will lead to better choices, less victimization, and greater manifestation of the reality you desire.

Fulfill Your Commitments and Feel Good About Yourself

It’s important that we fulfill our commitments. If we are tired or lazy and, as a result, choose to not do what we have promised to do, we let other people down and we let ourselves down. We degrade ourselves in the process, we weaken our message, we disrespect ourselves and others, we increase our guilt, shame and self-loathing, and open ourselves up to more self-sabotaging behaviors in the future. Best we not go there. If we have let things slide, best we seize the opportunity to fulfill our commitments and make things right.

Everything is Love or a Call For Love. When we appreciate this Truth and integrate it into our moment to moment consciousness, when people say hurtful and unloving things to us, we don’t see the attack. We see someone who is in pain, who is calling out for love and attention in a very unloving way. We give the attack no power. We don’t see an attacking person at all. We see someone who is loving. We see someone who is our spiritual brother or sister. And we respond with love. And we free our minds from fear. And we transform the relationship. It works if you work it.
